Overview
Fernwood helps people track sleep, medication, and daily habits, but the old app felt clinical and overwhelming. Small type, dense charts, and stern reminders made a daily routine feel like homework.
I designed a calm experience with large type and high contrast: a gentle daily check-in, kind medication reminders, and full TalkBack support so every screen works by ear as well as by eye.
Calm by design
Challenge
Tracking sleep, medication, and habits felt clinical and overwhelming. Small type and dense screens shut out the very people who needed the routine most.
Approach
I rebuilt the routine around a calm daily check-in with large type, gentle reminders, and full TalkBack support, testing with low-vision users throughout.
Outcome
A high-contrast, large-type companion on Android that people open every day — with an accessibility checklist the team now applies to every screen.
