Overview
Cartwheel shoppers mostly buy one-handed — on trains, in queues, holding a coffee. The old checkout was long, search felt slow, and key buttons sat where thumbs could not reach.
I rebuilt the experience for the thumb: fast predictive search, bottom navigation in easy reach, and a saved-card checkout that finishes in three taps.
Speed without confusion
Challenge
Checkout took too many steps and search felt slow. Shoppers buying one-handed could not reach key buttons and gave up before paying.
Approach
I mapped every tap of the checkout, moved navigation into the thumb zone, and prototyped predictive search plus a three-tap saved-card checkout.
Outcome
A one-handed shopping experience with fast search and a three-tap checkout — buying on the go finally feels effortless.
